Annette and Andy Lee

Annette and Andy Lee met in 1999 and married in 2003, they both share a passion for food, wine and great service. They purchased Bacchus House in June 2005, for nearly 4 years Bacchus House has been under renovation. Every room has been renovated to 5 star standards, Bacchus house is a very special place that will prides itself in everything it does.

Annette and Andy have two dogs both Husky German Sheppard crosses, Hunter and Tye

Biography of Andy Lee

Andy Lee was born in Liverpool where he started his career in the hospitality industry at the Atlantic Tower Thistle Hotel as a waiter whilst graduating at Colquitt Street Culinary School as a Chef.
At the age of 18 he moved to the South Coast of England, where he worked at the Cavendish De Vere Hotel as Second Head Waiter before returning to Liverpool as Head Waiter at Crompton’s French Restaurant at the famous Adelphi Hotel.

At the age of 20, Andy obtained his first Restaurant Managers position at the Wharf Restaurant situated in the picturesque Albert Dock, at that time Liverpool’s most popular restaurant which boasted among its famous visitors, Prince Charles.

During the next 5 years Andy worked in Chester as Food and Beverage Manager at the Chester International Hotel before moving to De Vere Oulton Hall as Restaurant Manager in one of the countries leading 5 star properties. During this time Andy competed in many National competitions, becoming a national and regional finalist in the Young Waiter of the Year three years consecutively, he won the Scotland and Northwest Head waiter of the year becoming the youngest finalist at the age of 23. Andy Lee was also award the prestigious Annual Award of Excellence Service Diploma from the Acadamie of Culinaire, he also was placed second in the Jacquart young Restaurant manager of the Year.

After leaving Leeds, Andy spent over 2 years as Manager of one of the countries top Restaurants which held 2 Michelin stars and 4 AA Rossettes and was rated in the top 5 restaurants in the UK., as well as assuming the position of Corporate Director at Heathcotes cookery School
During this time Andy became a leading recognised Sommelier taking the Court of Sommeliers Advance Certification as well as the Wine and Spirit Education Trust Higher Certificate.
In 1999, Andy left England to work at one of Canada`s finest properties, Langdon Hall Relais and Chateau Hotel, situated in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada as Food and Beverage Director where he worked for 2 years, where he developed an Award winning wine list recognised by the Wine Spectator. His second appointment in Canada, was for Vintage Inns, as Food and Beverage Director of their Conference Hotel, Queens Landing Inn. Here, Andy was in charge of 22,000 sq. ft. of Banqueting space, 2 offsite contracts, 4 Diamond Restaurant and as well as all other food and beverage areas of the hotel with a team of 240 full time staff reporting to him.

After September 11, Andy returned to England to work in the Channel Islands at Award winning group Hand Picked Hotels, Hotel L’Horizon as Director of Operations. Andy assisted in overseeing the properties refurbishment program, including a brand new Brasserie, Spa and renovation of rooms and the rebuilding of an entire food and beverage team.

Andy returned to the mainland in 2003 and worked as General manager of Auberge du Lac an exclusive 5 star international private resort working closely with renowned World award winning Michelin starred Chef Jean Christophe Novelli.

Andy returned back to Canada in February of 2005 and joined The Fairmont Royal York , where he was General Manager in the Epic Restaurant and Lounge and was recognized as one of Canada’s leading Sommeliers as well as becoming a water Sommelier. In May of 2005 Andy and his wife Annette bought a Bed and Breakfast in Collingwood and Andy moved to Talisman Resort and Conference Centre as Hotel and Resort Manager and was quickly promoted to General Manager, gaining 4.5 stars within 12 months of joining as well as developing an award winning VQA wine list. During this time the resort has seen many upgrades and renovation and the introduction of a fine dining restaurant, a brand new pub and renovation of the bedrooms and a new management team dedicated to guest service.

In 2008 Andy Lee became General Manager at Fox Harb’r Golf and Spa Resort, one of Canada’s leading 5 star properties. Under his management Fox Harb’r attained four Diamond award from CAAA, has recognised by Wine Spectator for its wine list, recently admitted into Conde Nast Johansens guide of leading hotels of North America. Bacchus House has the management agreement to manage Fox Harb’r until November 2009.

In January of 2008 Andy Lee became a graduate from the Cornell General Managers Program {GMP}, Andy will also be receiving his Global Certification Meetings Management {CMM}, organized by Meetings Planners International {MPI} and for 2009 plans to take the Certified Specialist Of Wine run in conjunction with the Society of Wine Educators to held in Boston in November.

Andy Lee is looking forward to challenges ahead of running Bacchus House and working closely with his Wife Annette.

Biography of Annette Lee

Annette Lee was born in Chatham, Ontario her career in hospitality began in 1991 when she attended the University of Guelph completing a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, Hotel & Food Administration.

In 1996 Annette was appointed Assistant Manager of Hillebrand’s Vineyard Café in Niagara on the Lake. In 1999 she met her husband to be at Langdon hall whilst working in a 1 week stage, later that year she moved to the newly renovated Prince of Wales as F&B Supervisor / Event Coordinator situated in Niagara on the Lake and part of luxury hotel group Vintage Inns.

Annette transferred to a sister property Queens Landing Inn and Conference Centre in 2001 where she was promoted to the position of Outlets Manager overseeing a team of 60 staff and annual revenue of over $2 million.

In 2002 Annette Lee moved to the Lighthouse Restaurant as Restaurant where she developed all the service standards prior to the restaurants opening.

One year later Annette joined her husband to be relocating to Jersey in the Channel Islands, UK it is here they were married. It is here she completed the WSET higher Certificate.
During her two Years in the United Kingdom Annette worked for Jean Christophe Novelli a celebrity Michelin starred chef and star of Hell’s Kitchen second series.
Annette was responsible for reservations and special events at Auberge du Lac situated at Brocket Hall a luxury private 5 star property.

Annette moved with her husband to Liverpool, England and held the position of Private Club & Special Events Manager at Montreal a small luxury 5 star boutique property.
In 2005 both Andy and Annette Lee returned back to Canada, Annette commenced her appointment at the Millcroft Inn & Spa, one of Ontario’s Finest Inns.

In her capacity as Dining Room Manager she made many contributions to the success of the F&B operation as well as maintaining CAAA 4 Diamond award for the restaurant.
Annette worked at the Inn for three years and in 2006 & 2007 under Annette Lees direction Ontario Finest Inns rated the Millcroft the Best Inn Dining Room for service two years consecutively receiving the highest rating of all the Inns, as well as receiving the VQA Wine award.

Annette is excited about Bacchus house finally opening in 2009.
